Imax Adds Another Blockbuster in 2010.

Yesterday an annoucement came from Imax, Marvel Entertainment, and Paramount.
The annoucement was that Iron Man 2 would be released with its wide release onto Imax screens.

Iron Man 2 will be released May 7th, 2010. Currently Imax has Shrek 4 coming to screens on May 21st, 2010. This means Iron Man 2 will only be on screens exclusively for two weeks. This is a great opportunity for the company though as it will for sure sell out screenings of this highly anticipated blockbuster movie.

New 2010 Lineup:

Alice in Wonderland-March 5th

Hubble 3D-March 19th

How to Train Your Dragon-March 26

Iron Man 2-May 7

Shrek Forever After-May 21

Toy Story 3-June 18

Twilight:Eclipse-June 30

Inception-July 16

Harry Potter and Deathly Hollows-November November 19

Tron-December 17

The first half of the year has filled out faster than any other year in Imax history. The company still has plenty of opportunity to add movies in wide release to the second half of the year.

I went through releases for the end of 2010 to see which movies could potentially be added to the lineup.

The Expendables-August 13

Resident Evil 3D-September 10

Saw VII 3D-October 22

The first movie is action packed and the second two are in 3D which will likely become a mainstay for the rest of the year. Many other movies need release dates and could fit into that empty August and September slot.
Imax was one of my Top Ten Stocks for 2009.
I own shares of Imax.
